SCOPE OF EXPECTATIONS

Instruction

  • Apply knowledge of first and second language acquisition theories and employ best practices for English language development.
  • Develop and execute an effective English language development instructional program.
  • Serve as an individual learning plan (ILP) case manager for assigned ELs.
  • Deliver instruction in English language development courses and co-teach in various content areas.

 

Assessment

  • Administer formative and summative English language proficiency assessments to evaluate English language proficiency and monitor student progress.
  • Design and administer common formative assessments in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
  • Utilize data analysis to inform placement and instructional decisions in collaboration with stakeholders.

 

Compliance and Support

  • Provide EL services and complete Title III documentation as outlined by the Tennessee Department of Education.
  • Develop tailored individual language goals for students requiring language support.
  • Ensure adherence to regulations governing English language learner education.
  • Support stakeholders in implementing best practices and instructional strategies for English learners.

 

Family Engagement

  • Foster ongoing communication and engagement with families.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of bachelor’s degree and Tennessee teaching license with appropriate endorsement required.
  • Secondary EL teaching experience preferred.
  • Endorsement codes as required. Salary as per the Teacher Salary Schedule.

**Salary is based on 2023-2024 salary schedule with an increase expected with 2024-2025 budget approval**
