Position Overview

Oak Ridge Schools is seeking a dependable, caring, and team-oriented Teacher Assistant to support classroom instruction and help create a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment for students.

The Teacher Assistant works closely with classroom teachers and other school staff to support daily classroom activities, student learning, supervision, and school routines. This position provides an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students' educational experiences while being an important part of the school team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher with daily instructional and classroom activities.
• Provide individual and small-group support to students as directed by the teacher.
• Reinforce classroom instruction, assignments, and learning activities.
• Assist students with classroom routines, transitions, and organization.
• Monitor and supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and other school settings as assigned.
• Help maintain a positive, welcoming, and orderly classroom environment.
• Prepare classroom materials and assist with instructional activities.
• Support students in developing positive social and classroom behaviors.
• Assist with arrival, dismissal, field trips, and other school activities as needed.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other school staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and school information.
• Follow school and district policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator or supervising teacher.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students and staff.
• Ability to follow directions and work effectively as part of a team.
• Dependable, patient, flexible, and professional.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate appropriate judgment.
• Commitment to supporting the academic and personal growth of students.
